About the Client


In 1885, a young pewter smith named Yong Koon arrived in Malaya from the Chinese port of Shantou, armed with little more than a set of tools and a determination to succeed. Today, Yong Koon's humble enterprise is Royal Selangor, the world's foremost name in quality pewter.
 

Business Concern


Being a manufacturing company, electricity bill contributes to a large portion of the operating cost. Royal Selangor looking for solution that can help to hedge against the ever rising electricity cost. Besides. Royal Selangor is trying to reduce the impact that they have on the environment than they used to before with fossil fuels and diesel-burning cauldrons.
 

Business Model


Under a solar lease financial model, Royal Selangor purchases clean energy with fixed lease payment which is calculated using the estimated amount of electricity the system will produce. In return, Royal Selangor gets to enjoy cheaper electricity compared to its local electricity provider.

With the system installed at Royal Selangor, they contribute to environmental sustainability by offsetting at least 1050 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. In future, they can consider adding solar panels to the existing system as their production capacity increases.
